Darab is one of the ancient cities of Persia that it dates back to Parthians. It is located approximately about 4 hours from Shiraz.
Traveling to Darab makes everyone feel blessed because it is known as one of the oldest cities of Iran as it is mentioned in Shahname of Ferdowsi. Although original name of the city comes from Persian empire and it was known as Darab Gerd, there are no more evidence about this heritage.
Being slightly away from central touristy route but it is worth visiting its historical sites and nature. Another monument in the vicinity is a giant bas relief carved on vertical face of rock representing the victory of the Sassanian king Shapour over the Roman emperor Valerian.
